Act I

Starting immediately, voters need to understand that Shannon Bird is the only Democrat we can trust to meet this moment and fight back against MAGA Republican Gabe Evans and Donald Trump. In contrast, Manny Rutinel’s voting record and those who contribute to his campaign do not represent our Democratic values. 

Voters who have voted in at least 1 of the last 4 Democratic primaries, as well as newly registered Democratic voters, need to learn about Shannon Bird’s and Manny Rutinel’s records on television, in the mail and in digital ads:

• Shannon Bird’s been named the most effective lawmaker in Colorado.
  • Shannon is the only candidate who took on insurance companies – and won – to lower healthcare costs and protected Medicaid.
  • Shannon got dangerous weapons out of the hands of criminals.
  • Shannon always defends abortion rights and will prioritize codifying Roe when in Congress. 
• Shannon Bird is the only candidate who has the record and is tough enough to beat MAGA Republican Gabe Evans and stand up to Donald Trump in Congress. With so much on the line, we can’t leave anything to chance. We need a fighter with a proven track record of winning and standing up for our values. 

The most effective messages voters need to know about Manny Rutinel’s record: 

• Rutinel voted for massive budget cuts to Medicaid and home health care – while voting to raise his own pay.
  • HEADLINE: Colorado lawmakers to get automatic pay increase as $1.5B shortfall forces cuts to Medicaid, other services
• Rutinel voted against holding convicted felons accountable for forcing children to be sold for sex.
• Rutinel took over $90,000 from an AI company that works with the government contractor behind the surveillance technology ICE uses to round people up.
