Blue Dog PAC Endorses Shannon Bird for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District

Bird’s Proven Record of Winning Makes Her the Right Choice to Flip One of the Nation’s Most Competitive Seats

Westminster, Colorado — Blue Dog PAC today announced its endorsement of Shannon Bird in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, pointing to her record of winning tough races, building coalitions, and delivering results.

Bird was first elected to the Westminster City Council before winning a state House seat in 2018, which she has held through three re-elections. She has passed more than 300 bills into law over the past seven years and was recently named the most effective lawmaker in Colorado. Her ability to earn support from Republicans and independents reflects the kind of leadership that wins in competitive districts like Colorado’s 8th.

“Shannon Bird delivers results and knows how to win tough races. She’s built trust in her community, worked with both parties, and focused on getting things done,” said Rep. Adam Gray (CA-13), Blue Dog PAC Chair. “This is one of the most competitive seats in the country, and Shannon is the kind of candidate who can win it and represent the district well.”

“I’m grateful to have the support of the Blue Dog PAC,” said Shannon Bird. “I’ve focused on delivering for working families and proving you can win competitive races by staying grounded in your community and focused on results. That’s how I’ll serve in Congress.”

Colorado’s 8th Congressional District has been decided by less than one percentage point in each of the last two elections, making it one of the most competitive seats in the country. Bird enters the race with a strong record and a clear path to victory in 2026.

About Shannon Bird

Shannon was raised by a single mom and her grandmother, who dealt blackjack and used her tips to help Shannon get through college. They taught her how to work hard, give back and fight for what’s right.

With a passion for improving education for every student, Shannon started in public service by volunteering in her kids’ classrooms and co-founded an organization that empowers students, parents, teachers, and communities to create more equitable local schools. She led a bond measure campaign for the Adams 12 district in 2014 to fix and improve local schools, leading to her serving on the Westminster City Council and then in the Colorado State House, where she served for three years on the Joint Budget Committee.

Prior to serving in public office, Shannon worked in the private sector, practicing law in the fields of public and commercial finance, helping to get large community projects like roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals off the ground.

Shannon is committed to showing up for the people of Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, and working together to deliver real results for hardworking Coloradans and families – because that’s what she’s always done. Her campaign has earned the endorsement of over 185 leaders in the district and across Colorado, as well as the International Association of Fire Fighters, the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Association, Plumbers Local Union 3, ATU & ATU Local 1001, Heat & Frost Insulators Local 28, NALC Branch 642, SMART Locals 9 and 202, Pipefitters Local 208, Machinists Local 47, Farmers Union Rural PAC, Elect Democratic Women, EMILYs List, Welcome PAC, The Bench, NewDem Action Fund, and Blue Dog PAC.
