Northglenn-Thornton Sentinel: Democrats rally in Northglenn to combat big budget crisis

Adams County’s Democratic state lawmakers Monday vowed to fill as many funding gaps as possible during this week’s special legislative session, called to fix a nearly $1 billion hole in the state budget.

The lawmakers said the state budget was largely balanced when the 2025 session ended in May.

“We will be doing our work to be the responsible adults in the room,” said Westminster’s Shannon Bird, a state representative who is also vice chair of the state’s Joint Budget Committee. Bird is also vying for the Democratic nomination to run against Republican incumbent Gabe Evans for the 8th Congressional District seat.

Bird and other local Democrats assembled at Northglenn’s Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church as part of a state-wide Big Bill Fallout emergency town hall series.
