Yellowscene Magazine Endorses Shannon Bird for Congress
Westminster, Colorado – Today Yellowscene Magazine became the first media outlet to endorse in the race for Colorado’s Eighth Congressional District, choosing Shannon Bird:
“Bird was ranked the most effective Colorado lawmaker in the ‘23-’24 term by the independent organization, Center for Effective Lawmaking. That effectiveness is reflected in the detailed, clear proposals Bird has made central to her campaign. Of particular note are her detailed pragmatic proposals for restraining ICE. In the same study, Rutinel was ranked 45th out of 50. Bird sponsored 104 bills in 2025, passing bills supporting affordable housing, workers’ rights, and education, among others…Her record makes Bird the choice.”
Yellowscene’s endorsement builds on Bird’s strong momentum, including being by far the most labor-endorsed candidate in the race and the only candidate with support from ag and doctors’ groups, as well as key endorsements from the NewDem Action Fund, Blue Dog PAC, WelcomePAC, The Bench, EMILYs List, Elect Democratic Women, and nearly 200 leaders across the district and state.
About Shannon Bird
Shannon was raised by a single mom and her grandmother, who dealt blackjack and used her tips to help Shannon get through college. They taught her how to work hard, give back and fight for what’s right.
With a passion for improving education for every student, Shannon started in public service by volunteering in her kids’ classrooms and co-founded an organization that empowers students, parents, teachers, and communities to create more equitable local schools. She led a bond measure campaign for the Adams 12 district in 2014 to fix and improve local schools, leading to her serving on the Westminster City Council and then in the Colorado State House, where she served for three years on the Joint Budget Committee.
Prior to serving in public office, Shannon worked in the private sector, practicing law in the fields of public and commercial finance, helping to get large community projects like roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals off the ground.
