Elect Democratic Women Endorses Shannon Bird for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District
WASHINGTON, DC – Elect Democratic Women (EDW), the Congressional Member-led committee dedicated to electing Democratic women to Congress, announced its endorsement of Shannon Bird for Colorado’s 8th Congressional District.
“Elect Democratic Women is proud to endorse Shannon Bird for Congress. Shannon brings a unique blend of professional expertise and grassroots leadership — from her work in public finance and law to her hands-on efforts improving local schools. As a mom who started as a volunteer in her children’s classroom and went on to co-found an organization empowering families and educators to make schools work for everyone, she has always been guided by a deep commitment to community. In Congress, Shannon will fight to lower costs, strengthen Colorado’s economy, and bring the same passion and purpose she’s shown in the State House,” said Rep. Lois Frankel, Chair of Elect Democratic Women.
“I’m honored to have the support of Elect Democratic Women. Raised by a single mother and grandmother, I saw firsthand the strength and sacrifice it takes for families to get by. Families across Colorado are working hard to make ends meet, and they deserve a representative who will fight just as hard for them. In Congress, I’ll continue working to strengthen our schools, create good jobs, and build a fair economy that works for every Coloradan,” said Shannon Bird.

About Shannon Bird
Shannon was raised by a single mom and her grandmother, who dealt blackjack in Reno, Nevada and used her tips to help Shannon get through college. They taught her how to work hard, give back and fight for what’s right.
With a passion for improving education for every student, Shannon started in public service by volunteering in her kids’ classrooms and co-founded an organization that empowers students, parents, teachers and communities to create more equitable local schools. She led a bond measure campaign for the Adams 12 district in 2014 to fix and improve local schools, leading to her serving on the Westminster City Council and then in the Colorado State House, where she served for three years on the Joint Budget Committee.
Prior to serving in public office, Shannon worked in the private sector practicing law in the fields of public and commercial finance, helping to get large community projects like roads, bridges, schools and hospitals off the ground.
Shannon is committed to showing up for the people of Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, and working together to deliver real results for hardworking Coloradans and families – because that’s what she’s always done. Her campaign has earned the endorsement of over 130 leaders in the district and across Colorado, as well as the International Association of Fire Fighters, the Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Association, Plumbers Local Union 3, Heat & Frost Insulators Local 28, and ATU Local 1001.
