Shannon Bird

Colorado House District 29

Hello!

Welcome to My Website!

I’m Shannon Bird, your Colorado State House Representative serving House District 29. I am deeply committed to the long-term success of our State and local community and strongly believe that achieving results over partisan politics is what matters most.

Each vote placed is an act of faith in an elected official to represent you. As your state representative, I have never forgotten this. The conversations we have and the concerns you share with me shape how I lead at the Capitol. Our state has challenges that must be addressed. We must continue to invest in our public schools, make housing and higher education more affordable for all, and provide access and affordable healthcare options to every Coloradan.

I work my hardest to represent everyone who lives in House District 29, not just those who voted for me. Every person deserves to have a voice in the future of our state. My commitment is authentic service to you. I will continue to take all of your voices to our state capitol each day. You have placed a trust in me that I do not take lightly and that means the world to me.

My door is always open to learn from others so that together we can make the change we want to see. This is how we create the best solutions to the challenges before us. I am honored to have been your representative for the past six years and I can’t wait to get back to work for you.

Listening to Us
Getting Results.

Since being elected in 2018, I’ve:

  • Championed legislation to improve child welfare, give low and moderate income families financial stability and an affordable place to live;

  • Strengthened laws to protect children and

  • Worked to appropriately hold criminals accountable when they distribute lethal drugs, steal cars and catalytic converters;

  • For public education, I passed a bill to audit all of the tests we make our kids take in public schools- to find out if those tests really are making our schools better

  • Sponsored and passed the bill that finally eliminated our State’s debt to its public schools

  • Helped the middle class by strengthening pensions for our teachers, fire fighters, police officers and state workers

  • Led  legislation to clean up environmentally contaminated land and to incentivize more people to commute to work

  • Cosponsored legislation to crack down on polluters and protect Colorado’s clean air and clean water;

  • Cap allowable tuition increases in Colorado’s public universities to below the rate of inflation and to make the first two years of college and trade school free for families making less than $90,000 per year.

  • Strengthen our economy, by partnering with the business community to grow well paying job opportunities for Coloradans
