Shannon Bird
for Colorado State Senate | District 25
Hello! I’m Shannon Bird
I am deeply committed to the long-term success of our state and local community and strongly believe that achieving results over partisan politics is what matters most.
It has been my greatest professional honor and privilege to serve the people of Westminster at the state capitol. As I enter my fourth and final term as your State Representative, I know I’m ready to do more to fight for Colorado families.
That’s why I’m running for State Senate.
I am proud and excited to have served Westminster on our City Council and in the State Legislature. I have worked hard to solve the challenges that our state faces, from the rising cost of housing and healthcare, making our communities safer, and increasing our investment in Colorado’s education system.
As a lawyer and stateswoman, I am no stranger to facing challenges head-on.
I look forward to bringing both my professional experience and my knowledge about how our state government operates from my service on key committees such as the Joint Budget Committee, Appropriations, Finance, Business Affairs and Labor, to the Colorado State Senate.
From protecting reproductive healthcare access to helping our small businesses thrive, I am committed to helping all Coloradans achieve the American Dream. I make affordability a priority in all of my work, and putting money back in your pockets or savings accounts, where it belongs.
Your voice matters, and nothing will stop me from working with my colleagues, of all political parties, to champion what matters most to you, your family, our community, and our state.
I am dedicated to making sure Colorado is the very best state for each of us to call home, and would be honored to serve you in the State Senate.

Getting Results.
Since being elected in 2018, I’ve:
Championed legislation to improve child welfare, give low and moderate income families financial stability and an affordable place to live;
Strengthened laws to protect children and
Worked to appropriately hold criminals accountable when they distribute lethal drugs, steal cars and catalytic converters;
For public education, I passed a bill to audit all of the tests we make our kids take in public schools- to find out if those tests really are making our schools better
Sponsored and passed the bill that finally eliminated our State’s debt to its public schools
Helped the middle class by strengthening pensions for our teachers, fire fighters, police officers and state workers
Led legislation to clean up environmentally contaminated land and to incentivize more people to commute to work
Cosponsored legislation to crack down on polluters and protect Colorado’s clean air and clean water;
Cap allowable tuition increases in Colorado’s public universities to below the rate of inflation and to make the first two years of college and trade school free for families making less than $90,000 per year.
Strengthen our economy, by partnering with the business community to grow well paying job opportunities for Coloradans
